When I was 12, I went on my first trip. I went with Teen Mania Ministries to Costa Rica for two weeks. We did VBS in villages and schools. We also did street ministry with a drama to draw a crowd and then went out into the crowd after to evangelize.
MEXICO '05
When I was 15, I went to Mexico for a week with my youth group. We mostly did ministries in an orphanage but also went into a village to hold a VBS for the kids there.
PANAMA '06
When I was 16 I went to Panama for one month with Teen Mania Ministries. We stayed in a village inland for 2 weeks. In the mornings, we did children's ministries, and in the afternoons we walked in the villages to build relationships and evangelize/encourage believers. We also helped clean up and restore homes after a mudslide that happened during our stay there.
The next two weeks, we spent on an Island the size of a football field with about 1,000 natives. In the mornings, we did more VBS for the 900 children, hut to hut evangelism in the afternoons, and church services in the evenings.
INDONESIA '09-'10
I went to Indonesia for 2 months with Youth With A Mission for my DTS outreach. This is the trip that shaped me where I heard God call me into missions full-time.
The first month, we were in the city of Surabaya. We mostly did children ministries in the slums every afternoon but also were in many churches performing a drama and then teaching afterward.
The second month of outreach, we went to the villages on Bali Island. Along side the the villagers, we built a road, cleared a path for another road, and planted a rice field. During this 2 week stay, we also learned about appropriate technology and built water hydrolic RAM water pumps.
After learning how to build and install hydrolic water pumps, we traveled to West Timor. An island coming out of a war and that does not have running water and hardly has electricity. We taught the villagers about the pumps and with their help, installed the water system that brought running water to hundreds of families.
UGANDA '11
After my 9 month School of Biblical Studies, I traveled to Uganda for a 3 month trip. This was a third level YWAM school to train me how to apply what i learned in my bible school by teaching people how to study the bible. I transformed from being a student in the class room to being a teacher in the class room (teaching 30 hours in 2 months) as well as modeling Jesus with my daily living. My outreach phase was located in Northern Uganda. An area that has experienced a 20 year genocide. Every single person in this area has been traumatically affected by what this evil army has done to their tribe. However, through this trip, I saw God work so powerfully to heal wounded hearts and piece back together broken lives as we discipled people in different churches, vocational schools, and our neighborhood. Every day was a day lived in obedience to God's call. Every day began in prayer for wisdom and words, in where to go, what to teach, who to speak to, and the grace to obey God's direction. Listening to God's voice and obeying paid off because he met us and our efforts 100 fold to bring forth this healing, and intimacy with God for these Ugandans.
SOUTH SUDAN '12
Two months after I got back from Uganda, I packed my bags and headed back to Africa. I went to South Sudan by my self and met my brother, sister-in-law, a few people from Uganda, and from South Sudan.
South Sudan has been victim of 45 years of war and ethnic cleansing against Christians. The war finally ended in 2011, but left this country crippled and full of broken people. But God is a God of love, life, and restoration and these people are so desperate for that touch from God and hungry for discipleship. This makes South Sudan a land of such open opportunity to share the Love of God.
We went to pioneer a new YWAM base in S. Sudan and I had the privilege of teaching and leading in their first Discipleship Training School. On this trip, I had the opportunity to teach many times in class, lead small groups, and have personal (one on one) time with students. I was able to invest all my time and heart into discipling our 9 students.

After lecture phase, they went on an outreach phase to unreached people groups and villages. These people had never heard the name of Jesus before, but as the students proclaimed the gospel, people were healed, demons were cast out, and hearts believed for the first time in their savior, Jesus Christ.
It is so amazing to see those who were discipled going on and planting more seeds, spread the gospel, and being a blessing to the people in their nation.
